Energy savings, water management, and waste recycling: TESSI is a project funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme and aims to raise awareness concerning energy savings. On the one hand, it intends to improve knowledge and attitudes (necessary but not sufficient prerequisites for driving changes in behaviour) through a training programme for teachers and the development of an integrated, multi-media educational kit available in both Italian and Slovenian. On the other, it will stage a cross-border competition that will reward the schools and individual students who will achieve the best environmental result as another way to trigger changes in habits and behaviours.

The activities are targeted at high school students and teachers from Friuli Venezia Giulia, the provinces of Ferrara, Ravenna, Venice, Padua, Rovigo and Treviso, and western Slovenia.
The schools will benefit from the project not only in terms of educational material and refresher course for teachers, but also in terms of reduced energy and water consumption and lower management costs for school buildings.
