Large-scale innovation policies

We test innovation methodologies locally to make them available nationwide and worldwide.

Area Science Park is the only research institution whose mission is
the development of the economic system through scientific and technological research and innovation.

In this perspective, we have developed and implemented a number of proprietary methodologies for socio-economic development at a regional, national and international level.

Nationwide innovation

Area Science Park has developed a new industrial system model, the Argo System, subject matter of the agreement signed in March 2018 by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (Miur), the Ministry of Economic Development (Mise) and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

The Argo System is based on product and process innovation; it enhances economic productivity and generates new jobs thanks to the interaction between research and industry.

Worldwide innovation

Methodologies

Area Science Park is committed to developing the Open Innovation System of the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region, thanks to the integrated cooperation of local stakeholders, coming from the world of business and finance, and research and public institutions (find out more)

Furthermore, the Ministry of Economy of the Croatian Republic has entrusted Area Science Park with the development of the national innovation system (to be continued)

Our collaborations

The international collaborations of Area Science Park mainly comprise two areas, i.e., European and macro-regional programs.
One of the Agency’s core activities is the participation in the European projects for research and innovation (Horizon 2020) and for territorial cooperation (Interreg Europe, MED, Adrion), to gain skills, develop tools and methodologies and meet the demand for innovation of public and private stakeholders.
In the international projects, AREA Science Park often acts as a proponent and coordinator, building a thick network of collaborations throughout Europe. Thanks to this network of diverse collaborations, the Agency can monitor the evolution of European policies, research sectors and markets, paving the road for more innovation projects. For example, thanks to the coordination of Sustainable Urban Mobility projects, the Agency also participates in the Coordinating Group for Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans fostered and promoted by the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission (DG – MOVE).
Most European projects are in line with the areas of research of the Agency (Public Sector Innovation), providing concrete case studies and practical applications.
AREA’s most notable collaborations include the Memorandum of Understanding with the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the partnerships with the Ministry of Economy of Croatia, the Ministry of Sciences of Montenegro, the Ministry of Sciences and Technological Development of Serbia, and the Ministry of Economy of Albania, all of which have been established thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and of the Italian Embassies seated in the above mentioned countries.
