Introducing four new regional labs set up by digital innovation hub IP4FVG

Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, software optimisation and cobots: these are just some of the many tech solutions on display in the four living labs set up by the region’s digital innovation hub, IP4FVG, and presented duringal a press conference held in the Regional Council’s main reception hall.

These living labs dotted around the region are equipped with leading industry 4.0 technology, now open to entrepreneurs, technicians and professionals who want to explore their potential first-hand. Each one is dedicated to a key area of digital transformation. At the Carnia Industrial Park in Amaro near Udine, IoT solutions are available for testing, while at the Lean Experience Factory 4.0 in San Vito al Tagliamento near Pordenone, there is an advanced digital technology space for the manufacturing industry. Area Science Park’s Padriciano campus in Trieste is home to a simulation and optimisation lab, and also has a corner dedicated to “construction 4.0”, focusing on digitalising the building process. Udine’s living lab is hosted by the University of Udine at its “Uniud Lab Village” campus and presents various data-analysis and artificial-intelligence technology solutions.

The living labs are designed to help you “test before you invest”. As of today, entrepreneurs, technicians and professionals are invited to book a lab visit at www.ip4fvg.it/livinglab to experience these “tech 4.0” solutions first-hand. What’s more, IP4FVG experts will be on hand at the four hubs to help with analysing the potential and impact of implementing these innovative technologies. There are also another 65 applications waiting to be discovered at the living labs, put forward by various regional and national companies and brought together through the Soluzioni Digitali” initiative. All this is being offered for free as IP4FVG is one of the strategic initiatives under the Argo programme, backed by the Italian University and Research Ministry, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, and the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The total investment amounts to 650,000 euros.

The labs represent the last step in a process developed by the digital innovation hub IP4FVG. For some two and a half years now, the regional hub’s 30 partners – public and private entities active in the field of innovation – have been working together to support local businesses with the digital transformation of their production processes. The pillars of IP4FVG’s work are dialogue with businesses, digitalisation initiatives and training. To date, the network includes over 1,700 entrepreneurs, managers, technicians and professionals and more than 3,000 people have taken part in digital training courses backed by the regional hub.

The press conference was attended by Councillors Alessia Rosolen and Sergio Emidio Bini, the President of the IP4FVG Steering Committee, Stefano Casaleggi, and representatives of the local hubs: Roberto Siagri, representing the Amaro IoT hub; Andrea Bochicchio, representing the Trieste DOS hub (via remote video connection); Dino Feragotto, representing the Udine DA&AI hub; Paolo Candotti, representing the Pordenone AMS hub (via remote video connection); and Sara Guttilla, IP4FVG coordinator.
