INNOVATION POLICIES IN THE ADRIATIC AREA: RESULTS, REFLECTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES

The international closing ceremony of the PACINNO project (Platform for trans-Academic Cooperation in Innovation) will take place in the Aula Magna of the University of Trieste on September 26 and 27 2016. This three-year strategic project (2013-2016) has been financed by the IPA Adriatic programme.

The region’s innovation protagonists (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia) will present the positive results achieved by the project. Thanks to the presence of innovation experts and authorities, the event will also be an occasion to focus on and discuss future innovation policies in the Adriatic area.

The general aim of the PACINNO project is to establish a cooperation platform for research activities, innovation and technology transfer around the entire Adriatic Region. By involving research bodies, public institutions and private companies, this project has created new bridges between the world of research and that of applied innovation in business. In particular, among the specific objectives of PACINNO has been the encouragement of new business creation in innovative sectors and the reinforcement of competitiveness among existing small and medium business, belonging both to hi-tech and more traditional sectors.
