\ Il Parco \ EUROFINS GROUP ACQUIRES TECNA

The Eurofins group, world leader in the analysis of food, pharmaceuticals and the environment, has acquired 100% of Tecna Srl, leader at the Italian and international level in the market of diagnostic kits for the analysis of chemical contaminants in food products and animal feed.

The governance of Tecna will remain unchanged, with the founder Maurizio Paleologo in the role of Chief Executive Officer and Lidija Persic confirmed as Technical Director. The acquisition does not change the company’s mission, which will profit from being part of a multinational group. With a widespread global network of laboratories, Eurofins Scientific has in fact created, in the last twenty years, a group able to stand as a protagonist in analytical services for pharmaceuticals, food, the environment and consumer products.  The group now has 225 laboratories and 23,000 employees, as well as 130,000 analytical methods, with an extensive presence in 39 countries between Europe, America and Asia, an annual turnover of BIL EUR 1.95 and shares listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.

Tecna was born in 1994 in AREA Science Park – where it still maintains production and R&D activities – from a small group of chemists and biologists already boasting a few years of industrial experience in the field of immunodiagnostics. From the initial development of methods for the detection of drug residues in food, in 2000 the company expanded its activities to the detection of mycotoxins and later dedicated itself to the development of kits for allergens. The company has 25 employees, an income from sales in 2015 of 2.5 million euro, with an 8% growth in 2014. Tecna is present with its products in 40 countries and its exports last year accounted for 40% of revenues.
