ESTECO ACADEMY LAUNCHES A NEW DESIGN COMPETITION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH APRILIA RACING

ESTECO Academy, in collaboration with APRILIA Racing and Gamma Technologies, presents a new international competition aimed at engineering students around the world. The winning team will have a chance to be involved in a work experience with the APRILIA Racing team which has won some 54 world titles over the course of its budding history.

ESTECO, Aprilia Racing and Gamma Technologies are glad to invite groups of up to five students, enrolled in Engineering degree programmes (and other scientific subjects) at universities throughout the world, to present their design project for a new and powerful engine for competition cycles offering limited consumption.

The challenge is to design a single-cylinder four-stroke engine using engineering simulation and multidisciplinary optimisation, with the aim of finding the best yield in terms of engine performance, respecting the rules and starting with the basic configuration supplied. The work presented should be innovative and demonstrate use of modeFRONTIER optimisation and Gamma Technologies simulation software; the jury will take into consideration the most creative projects that will permit significant improvements in terms of performance, including consumption and sustainability.

“This is a valuable experience for young people who are facing the job market – explains Enrico Nobile, Scientific Advisor at ESTECO and Professor at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste – The participating teams will be able to take advantage of valid experience in the field and learn how to balance the use of cutting edge software technology with their skills in traditional engineering disciplines, in the search for an optimal design”.
