\ Senza categoria \ Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Italy visits Area Science Park

Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Italy, H.E. Ms Lendita Haxhitasim, visited Area Science Park on 25 March 2022, to find out more about the national research body and its main lines of work.

She was welcomed at the Padriciano campus by the President of Area Science Park, Caterina Petrillo, who presented the research body, in particular the two campuses, and outlined how the body’s main areas of work have developed and evolved.

During the visit, discussions were had about the possibility of collaborating to support research and innovation in specific areas of interest.

H.E. Ambassador Haxhitasim was particularly interested in initiatives related to training, business generation and the use of digitalisation as a tool for bringing about process improvement, applicable across many sectors. The Republic of Kosovo has a young population that is keen to learn from consolidated experience through skill-sharing and targeted training.

One of the events presented and discussed by President Petrillo and H.E. Ambassador Haxhitasim was “ITALY MEETS DIGITAL KOSOVO”, an online initiative held in June 2021 to facilitate collaboration between Italy and Kosovo in the ICT sector.  The event involved a conference and a series of one-to-one meetings between business people and researchers from the two countries.  It was organised by the representative offices in Kosovo of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and the Regional Economic Area (REA), the Kosovo ICT Association (STIKK), the Innovation Centre Kosovo (ICK), Unioncamere Veneto and Area Science Park. Some 28 Italian companies attended the event, seven of which were from the Area Science Park group.

At the end of her visit, H.E. Ms Lendita Haxhitasim expressed an interest in deepening knowledge of the Area Science Park group. She invited the President to visit Kosovo for an institutional meeting and also said that she intended to return in the near future.
