\ Il Parco \ TRIESTE NEXT 2016: THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE EUROPEAN FAIR OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH RETURNS

The event called Trieste Next, the European Fair of Scientific Research returns, scheduled to take place in the Julian capital from September 23 to 25. For the fifth edition of this event dedicated to the theme Human/Post-Human, there are over 100 events among workshops, lectures and meetings on the programme, which will involve a public of all ages. AREA Science Park  participates with a workshop of 400 square metres organised in Piazza Unità in which it will tell the public about the cutting-edge research and technology produced inside the science and technology park. From diagnostics to food safety, from biomedical training to research on the mechanisms involved in the spread of cancer, there will be numerous themes that will involve the public of science fans.

The AREA Science Park system will be present with 12 of its laboratories and businesses, starting with the ICGEB and Elettra Sincrotrone, and 10 of its start-ups created in the Innovation Factory incubator. A place for all ages that brings the public of adults and younger children closer to the Biology and Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, Nutrition, the materials of the future and much more. A tour dedicated to the association members of the Trieste section of the National Institute for the Protection of and Assistance to the Hard of Hearing is also scheduled.

In the area entitled “AREA Lab” researchers, business people and start-up entrepreneurs will alternate in discussing with the public the research and technology they work with on a daily basis.

The live performance of sand art by Nadia Ischia will be very evocative, with her patterns made of sand that will illustrate an imaginary trail that links the Port of Trieste to research, as protagonists of the present and future development of the city. The performance, “A sea of innovation, a port of ideas”, organised in collaboration with the Port Authority of Trieste, is scheduled for Saturday evening at 9:00 pm, with a repeat performance at 9:30 pm in the space dedicated to the AREA Lab.

There will also be many meetings with the protagonists of the AREA system.
