Innovative Materials Platform

The Scientific and Technological Platforms are open and inclusive research laboratories, in which advanced instrumentation and specialist expertise of different research bodies and centres are integrated into a system to provide knowledge and services aimed at carrying out experimental testing and applied and industrial research projects.

The Innovative Materials Platform integrates the instrumentation and expertise of big labs located in Area Science Park campuses dedicated to application of imaging, structural-analysis and chemical-characterisation techniques for the study and development of advanced surfaces and materials

Laboratories and principal applications

The Innovative Materials Platform performs analysis at the atomic and molecular level, measurements and experimentation on materials, study of surfaces, and quantitative analysis of the chemical composition of materials, with extremely broad fields of application ranging from nanotechnologies and development of nanostructured materials to failure analysis and process control in industrial activity.

The Innovative Materials Platform integrates instrumentation and specialist knowledge of the member institutes and labs, and specifically:

The Innovative Materials Platform is available to producers of raw materials, semi-finished products and components interested in performing:

  • analyses at the atomic and molecular level;
  • measurements and experiments on materials;
  • investigating defects;
  • chemical and physical analysis of intermolecular interactions.
