De Luca Mariarita

Mariarita de Luca obtained her PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2009 at the Department of Mathematics of the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy), developing and studying mathematical models for the numerical simulation of blood flow in the cerebral vascularture called “Circolo di Willis”.  In the following years she devoted herself to research activities in the field of large deformations of porous soft tissues and nematic elastomers (materials in which the elastic deformation was coupled non-linearly with a mechanism of diffusion or interaction with the electric field).

During the research activity she participated in many international conferences and had numerous experiences of research periods abroad (University of Pittsburgh, UCLA, University of Houston, Emory University, …). In Italy she conducted research activities as a post-doc at the Politecnico di Milano and the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati di Trieste – SISSA.

Then, for personal reasons, she changed field and, for some years she dedicated herself to teaching in high school for the subjects Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing.

In 2020 she started working again in SISSA as Research Manager and Administrator at the Research Office where, thanks to her previous research experience, she developed solid skills in on European project management and in particular regarding Open Science techniques and Research Data Management (FAIR principles).

From July 2023 she works as Project Manager at Area Science Park of Trieste at the Institute of Research and Technological Innovation – RIT,managing one of the PNRR projects of the RIT, NFFA-DI, dedicated to strengthening at national level the European NFFA research infrastructure for nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

The research and teaching activities have allowed her to acquire great flexibility and competence in the management of complex problems, with excellent aptitude for teamwork and communication skills.
