Research in materials and solid-state physics. Designing synchrotron beamlines in the soft X-ray spectrum.
The Institute for the Structure of Matter (ISM) carries out cutting-edge research in physics, chemistry and materials science. Research activities range from modelling and prototyping devices to studying processes, preparing and functionalising materials and characterising their structural and electronic properties, also through developing new equipment and methods. These activities have applications in areas such as energy, the environment, systems of biological interest, electronic and magnetic devices, cultural heritage and enabling technologies (KETs).
