CNR – INO Istituto Nazionale di Ottica

The National Institute of Optics has been conducting pure and applied research in the field of optics for nearly a century. Its activities also include technology transfer and training, as well as metrology, consulting and testing services for public and private entities. The Trieste Unit is mainly engaged in research activities concerning quantum sciences and technologies:– the Quantum Communications and Information (QCI) laboratory focuses on quantum cryptography (QKD) and direct quantum communication, as well as their integration in modern fiber optical communication networks;– the Artificial Quantum Systems (ArQuS) laboratory focuses on ultracold atom platforms for the quantum simulation of many-body systems, exploiting single-atom manipulation and detection techniques with metrological precision.
