Portable, rapid diagnostic systems to measure bilirubin levels in plasma of newborns.

Bilimetrix developed the Bilistick® System, an innovative diagnostic device, designed as a point-of-care test to measure total bilirubin concentration in whole blood samples of newborns. The test consists of a strip, where a small amount of blood is loaded, and a reader that displays the result. Because the method is simple, the system compact and the reader battery operated, Bilistick® does not require highly skilled personnel or equipped testing facilities, making diagnosing and monitoring neonatal jaundice a feasible practice outside hospitals, for example in outpatient clinics or family clinics.
