Novartis Farma S.p.A. visits Area Science Park

A delegation from Novartis Farma S.p.A., a Swiss multinational working in pharmaceuticals – and the second largest in the world by revenue – came to visit Area Science Park with the aim of getting to know the organisation and its research and development work.

Ottavia Barboni (Biome Italy Lead for the Digital Office at Novartis) and Francisco Garcia (Chief Digital Officer), were welcomed by Anna Sirica (General Manager of Area Science Park) together with Caterina Petrillo (President of Area Science Park).

The delegation, accompanied by Ketty Segatti (Deputy Director of Work, Training, Education and Family within the Regional Government of Friuli Venezia Giulia) and Franco Scolari (FVG Life Sciences Cluster Coordinator), met with Stephen Taylor (Deputy General Manager and Director of Innovation and Complex Systems) who presented the organisation and its work in the area of digital transformation in business, implemented through the digital innovation hub IP4FVG. Stefano Cozzini (Director of the Research and Technology Institute) introduced the delegation to the Scientific and Technological Platforms, the advanced research infrastructure for genome sequencing, and the Orfeo Data Center based on campus in Basovizza.

The delegation also visited the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) at Area Science Park’s Padriciano campus.

Novartis Italia has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Regional Government of Friuli Venezia Giulia to set up a health innovation hub in a partnership between the public and private sectors.
