Technology Foresight

From research to the market: predicting future trends in scientific and technological development with the aim of setting research priorities and outlining strategies for steering national investment. This is an ambitious goal, which requires skills and equipment such as those brought to bear by the Foresight project, in which AREA Science Park works together with the National Research Council of Italy (CNR).

The initiative avails itself of an IT platform to produce collective knowledge beginning with that of individual researchers and experts. The idea is to use the analysis and scientific interpretation of technological trends to build tools that can support the best choices to facilitate the development of Italy’s economy and society.

The main sectors at which the project is aimed are health, nutrition, environment, energy, transportation, and safety. The Foresight project’s services and results will be made available to the research and industry sectors and to political decision-makers.
