Conflict in Ukraine: research institute heads back peace initiatives
Science is a driver of progress for humanity as a whole, but it’s also a vital tool for building cooperation between communities.

ConPER, the Council of the Presidents of the Italian Research Bodies, joins the strong stance taken by the United Nations, the European Union and the Italian Government against the aggression suffered by Ukraine. It stands with the population facing the tragic effects of war and supports the initiatives aimed at diplomatically resolving the conflict and promoting peace.
In agreement with the decisions taken by the Italian Government and international scientific bodies, Italian research institutions stress that science should remain not only a driver of progress for humanity as a whole, but also a vital tool for building peace and cooperation between communities.
ConPER intends to back the request of the Italian Minister for Universities and Research to actively welcome the Ukrainian scientific and academic community, and will share and coordinate the solidarity and support initiatives organised by individual research bodies, including by liaising with other national institutions.
