Area Science Park attends Dubai’s World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum

What are the challenges faced by governments, multinationals and the private sector when it comes to achieving entrepreneurial and economic resilience post-COVID-19?

The World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum 2022 (WEIF) offered reflections and solutions related to these issues on 28-30 March at Dubai’s Expo Pavilion.

The 2022 edition drew on the theme of the Dubai Expo: “Connecting minds, Creating the future – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability”, promoting opportunities for partnership and collaboration among entrepreneurs and innovators. The aim of the event was to pave the way to a prosperous future and find sustainable solutions to global problems.

The WEIF was organised by UNIDO ITPO / AICEI Bahrain under the banner of the League of Arab States and in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and a number of regional and international partners. Over 70 speakers from all over the world were involved in 9 thematic panels.

On 30 March, Stephen Taylor, Deputy General Manager of Area Science Park, spoke on panel 8 about the opportunities offered by hydrogen and its potential within the context of energy transition. He illustrated the terms of the agreement between the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Croatia and Slovenia which will lead to the creation of the “North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley”.

The focus of the panel was on the smart services of the future, with the aim of analysing cutting-edge business strategies and trends in technology in different contexts, to share best practices and steer shared future developments.

Alongside Stephen Taylor, Lydia Alessio-Vernì also took part. She is the General Manager at the Agenzia Lavoro & Sviluppo Impresa  within the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia administration.

The mission in Dubai is part of a wider project known as “Innovation Bridge Trieste – Dubai 2020” organised by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The project includes a programme of initiatives connecting the Dubai Expo 2020 to the region, through networking among regional, national and international innovators, including industry, public and private technology manufacturers, and research centres.
